Some cool cool photography images:
She Needs an Umbrella

This manipulation was largely inspired by the commercial photographer Dave Hill. An extreme edit containing Jennie, this is a composite of many different images, all tone mapped in some way, except Jennie’s skin. This is Jennie, I met her on Model Mayhem. Her Model Mayhem Number is: 1657168.
The model was lit by a Canon Speedlite 430EX II at 1/2 power in the shade of a building, the flash was triggered by a Canon ST-E2 wireless Speedlite transmitter. All of the images that this composite is made up of were shot with my Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS and either a Canon EF-S 18-55mm ƒ/3.5-5.6 IS or a Canon EF 50mm ƒ/1.8 II. Trying to get the perspective correct was the hardest part of putting these images together, the stones that the model is walking on was hard to make realistic. The lightning, rain, and diffraction stars were all created from scratch in Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended. Each piece of the image was tone mapped, Jennie and the Rolls Royce were tone mapped in Photomatix Pro and everything else was tone mapped in ACR. All of the editing was done from RAW files that were processed as 16 bit TIFFs, the final image was converted to sRGB colourspace and saved as a JPEG to upload to the internet. Altogether this edit took me two full days to complete.

Arriving Home in Vegas
Vegas is filled with all these cool secret spots. I suppose this one isn’t all that secret, but I had never heard of it! This is the entrance to the Skylofts At MGM Grand Las Vegas. And this is just the elevator bank! I got a nice little private tour of some of the suites and they were quite amazing. I have those pics sitting in waiting, still unpublished. At first, I was thinking these were the kinds of places that were saved for the uber-elite whales of Vegas, but the prices aren’t that different than a nice Four Seasons.
I’ve been working on editing a new video of how I took an HDR photo in Yellowstone. I’ll give a first look to everyone that is on the Newsletter list. We’ll try to get that thing out this weekend or so! Now, I can tell you that as I edit this thing… it’s very shaky! What can I say… I just used one of those little Flip Video jobs. So, obviously, I’m trying to undersell the thing…. but maybe y’all can get some good information about how I took one of the Yellowstone shots.
